Not A Spider You Meet In Ireland Every Day
At the end of last week, we were called out to tackle a spider problem in a home in Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin. Imagine our surprise when the problem in question turned out to be this guy (pictured), a White-Tailed Black spider from Australia/New Zealand!
The homeowner had recently returned from New Zealand and it looks like the little arachnid decided to hitch a lift in their clothing or luggage. These particular spiders can give a very nasty bite, so we removed it promptly and forwarded it to a panel of expert entomologists we work with at Trinity College Dublin.
